WebNTSB Abstract The U.S. commercial space industry has grown rapidly over the last several years, FAA-licensed commercial launches have increased from 4 in 2010 to 33 in 2024. This increase was partly the result of policy changes after the retirement of the space shuttle that have required NASA to use Web1. The National Space Policy recognizes that “[a] robust and competitive commercial space sector is vital to continued progress in space.”1 In theNotice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) we address the spectrum needs of two separate, but closely related portions of the commercial space sector:
