I was told it was a DMD chip which costs about $400 to repair. It looks like it is a common problem with dell dlp projectors. Good luck! Mine started with only 146 hours.

If it is worth buying will depend on what you are going to do next. Keep the projector, replace it with a new one etc. That will be up to you.
